TOWING SPEED LIMITS

UK Speed Limit

It is 10mph below the national indicated speed limits.

Urban 20mph in a 30mph Zone
30mph in a 40mph Zone
50mph on a single carriageway

60mph on a Motorway
MAX SPEED WHILE TOWING

Don't be a muppet on UK roads towing your caravan. You are slower than lorries, so they will pass you. Do not use the outside/fast lane unless permitted due to roadworks, changing lanes, accidents, etc. Don't speed. Be aware of faster vehicles behind you and, if safe to do so, pull over or slow down to let traffic by you on single carriageways.

Drive to the conditions of the road and weather.

Slow down in the rain, high winds, and bad weather.

If you can avoid driving in high winds, do so.

Check that all your road lights are working correctly; that does mean your marker lights and fog lights, not just indicators and brakes.

SWITCH YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON! Don't rely on the automatic position. This only leaves your car headlights on and not your rear markers and tail lights!
